Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been working hard as he hopes to lead his iconic team back to the playoffs – and the NBA superstar enjoyed something of a dunk contest with his teenage sons on Tuesday.
At the Lakers’ practice facility, James’ sons Bronny and Bryce worked alongside the four-time NBA champion on their jump shots and ball handling before showcasing their incredible vertical leap by engaging in a number of dunks. Bryce was particularly impressive given his youthful age of 15 while he is seemingly almost as tall as James himself.
Both Bryce and Bronny, a star at Sierra Canyon School in LA, showed off an impressive ability to dunk the ball at a NBA-regulation height basketball rim despite their tender age. They weren’t simply ring-tap dunking a la Steph Curry either, with both sons slamming the ball home.
The brothers also put up shots from the mid-range and the perimeter during numerous drills. It is clear from the footage that both Bronny and Bryce have inherited the right genes from James as they eye careers in the NBA down the line.
In fact, James has been incredibly vocal about his dream of playing alongside Bronny in the NBA when the 17-year-old is eligible to declare for the draft in two years. With how Bryce looks, perhaps the trio could link up provided James still has enough left in the tank.
However, it appears the 37-year-old is intent on playing with Bronny in the NBA. He has declared he will do whatever it takes to extend his career until his son is drafted.
Speaking to The Athletic during the All-Star break, James said: “My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be.
“I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
Bronny is regarded as one of the top high school prospects around the United States, and he is ranked as the number 39 prospect in the Class of 2023. Several top colleges around the country have reportedly reached out to him to lure the budding star to their program.
